Our oceans are suffocating but on one small island off the coast of Bali, there’s a chance to make a difference. On December 8th, 2018, 30 brave people from around the world will race over land and ocean in a race against time to protect the future of the islands of Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan. Previously pristine islands that have been heavily impacted by massive tourism growth are now threatened with an environmental disaster.
With a fundraising target of US $60,000, Bali’s first ever swimrun event is set to save 100’s & 100’s of tonnes of plastic being dumped into our oceans every year. Proceeds raised through this event will go towards desperately needed upgrades to the existing recycling facility on the island, providing more equipment, more space and more facilities to cope with the ever increasing demand of trash collection and waste management. An equal share of funds raised will assist with maintaining the current education program being delivered into schools on both islands, empowering the next generation to take control of their communities and protect their island home before it’s too late.

Bali Children Foundation

Bali Children Foundation Australia is the entity that funds the operation of Bali Children Foundation in Bali helping thousands of children to finish school, to find employment, to improve their lives and the life of their community. With more than 4500 children learning vital English and computer skills plus environmental awareness the program is currently being delivered throughout the north of Bali, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan.

20 heroes fundraising today.

The environmental challenge presented by plastic is well documented. What is less clear is what we can do as individuals to tackle this problem. By combining our voices and supporting better recycling infrastructure and greater awareness among young people we are actively building a better future.
