Ridewest is a biennial charity bike ride from Brisbane to Longreach, raising funds to help the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) with their primary care program providing the only mental health services in Outback Queensland and the NT.

In early 2017 the Royal Flying Doctor Service released a research paper entitled "Mental Health in Rural and Remote Communities". This new research reveals remote Australians die on average from suicide at twice the rate of city people, yet are only able to access mental health services at a fifth of the rate of city people. It also identifies farmers as among the most at risk of suicide

Ridewest engages the hearts of organisations and bike riding employees within those organisations who strive to challenge themselves and achieve excellence in supporting the community, share a passion and appreciation for the benefits of cycling at both a mental and physical health level, and recognise the power of corporate charity bike rides as a community engagement, corporate social responsibility and marketing vehicle.

Now in its 6th year, the Ridewest Team, together with a growing number of sponsors and partners, are proud to see the event EXPANDING – with funds raised NOW EXCEEDING $700k following the 2016 ride, and the goal for 2018 is to raise another $300k to take the grand total to $1,000,000.On the 21st April 2018, 30 riders will depart Amberley Airbase to begin a 1,237 km bike ride to Longreach. The riders will take 7 days, stopping each night in regional Queensland towns.

Covering distances of up to 240km each day, the riders will arrive in Longreach on the afternoon of the 28th April. Each rider is attempting to raise at least $5,000 each from their supporters, with the aim that the 2018Ridewest Team will reach its goal of $300,000. This will bring the combined total raised from the previous Ridewest events to over $1,000,000.
