The inaugural Run for Joey is a 250km run, over 6 days, from Craigieburn to Yarrawonga in memory of my Father Joseph Bugeja who passed away from a rare form of cancer called ‘Pseudomyxoma Peritonei' in January 2017.

The run will commence on February 29th, 2020 and end on dad’s birthday, 5th March, 2020.

Why Yarrawonga you may ask?

Growing up, Mum and Dad took us on little getaways and adventures every year and for over 10 years we went to Yarrawonga. Since Dad’s passing, our whole family travel up there over Dad’s birthday week to celebrate his life and the legacy he has left behind.

We use this time to gather together, share stories of our favourite memories and create new ones in his honour.

Over the last couple of years, I've been thinking about ways in which I could help raise funds and awareness for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and I finally thought of something with so much meaning and purpose. It'll be like nothing else!

As our annual trip to Yarrawonga fast approached in 2019, it hit me that running to Yarrawonga was the perfect way to recognise the amazing work that all the staff at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre do and how inspiring they are on a daily basis.

Please join me in this monumental event to raise not only funds and awareness but create change within in our communities to band together and strive for a greater sense of purpose.

I have set myself a target of raising $100k to fund vital research for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

I am looking for people to take part in this momentous run. So if you are interested in joining the 'Run for Joey' team please contact me via any of the channels below. To set up your own online fundraising page for 'Run for Joey', click the 'Start Fundraising' link on the right hand side.

And by fundraising for Peter Mac, you could make a life-saving difference to people with cancer. Peter Mac is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to overcoming cancer, and the home of Australia’s largest cancer research group. But our expert cancer researchers rely on people like you to make their work possible. Your support for Peter Mac will help give some of the brightest minds in cancer research the specialised technology and resources they need to discover cancer cures.
